Principles of DSO
- Confidentiality: DSO doesn't disclose the condition of the student who reveals that he/she is disabled in a way that may reveal his/her identity with any person or organization without his/her permission.
- Voluntariness: DSO provides opportunities for students to reveal their disabilities; however, it does not force students to apply to the Office and receive service.
- Regard: DSO operates by taking into consideration the fact that individuals' needs and capabilities may differ and by respecting disabled students' individual differences.
- Academic Equality of Opportunity: DSO conducts the work necessary for presenting learning and evaluation techniques adapted with respect to the student's disability in the process of fulfilling disabled students' academic responsibilities along with related individuals and offices.
- Accessibility: DSO coordinates with related offices of the university to make all aspects of (physical, social, academic) university life accessible to students with disabilities.
- Openness to Feedback: DSO is open to feedback; it perceives the feedback from students and academic and administrative staff as an opportunity to function better.
- Responsibility: Just as the DSO has the responsibility to create an environment supportive of disabled students' development, the student applying to the office also has individual responsibilities regarding how the process will work for them.
