Letter for Academic Accommodation: DSO prepares letter for academic accommodations about the accommodations that the student needs for his/her courses (providing course materials in alternative formats, necessary modifications of exams, accessibility of classroom-building etc.) after individual meetings with the student, to be conveyed to the instructors and faculty coordinators in charge so that they can make the necessary arrangements.

Note-Taker: For those students who experience difficulty taking notes or those who cannot take notes during the courses because of their disabilities, note taker service is provided by means of student assistantship.

Course Partnership: For those students who experience difficulty studying because of their disabilities, course partnership is offered by means of student assistantship.

Unobstructed Campus Transportation: In order to ease in- and off-campus transportation, mobility adapted vehicle and free taxi services are provided for students with mobility disabilities and visual disabilities. Mobility adapted vehicle service is provided primarily for students with mobility disabilities (UCT – Mobility Adapted Vehicle Service Brochure). Free taxi service is provided for in-campus transportation especially for students with visual disabilities and students with mobility disabilities (UCT - Taxi Service Brochure). Students who would like to take advantage of these services must firstly apply to ODTÜ DSO in order for assessment of needs and preparation of personal transportation schedule.

Accessible Resource Office: Students with visual disabilities can bring printed material to obtain an accessible format. In this office, there is a Braille printer, a scanner, a laptop and a desktop computer in which softwares such as Jaws and Abby Fine Reader is present. Students can use the office to work with their course partners if they wish. 

Campus Orientation Program: This is a program designed to facilitate the adaptation of students with disabilities to university life and to give students information about the resources (academic, administrative, physical, psychological, social, and accommodational) provided by our university at the beginning of the first year of our disabled students who were accepted to Middle East Technical University. Students who would like to take advantage of this program must apply for it during the registration period.

Consultancy for Departments with Students with Disabilities: DSO provides consultation service to departments with disabled students when necessary; informs the instructors about course and exam accommodations that the student needs and the rationales behind them.

Seminar and Training: This service includes seminars, conferences, and trainings for raising awareness and sensitivity of university staff and students about the field of disability.

Research and Evaluation: It consists of identifying needs of students with disabilities, follow-up and evaluation of the services and programs that are offered by the DSO.
